Tawḥīd is the greatest treasure a Muslim should guard and preserve.

When hardship strikes, when distress overwhelms you, or when you need help that none can grant except Allah, turn to Allah alone. Call upon Him, seek His aid, and place your dependence upon Him. He alone controls benefit and harm, relief and hardship, and to Him alone our deepest needs are raised.

Allah says: “You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help.” [al-Fātiḥah 1:5]

And He says: “When My servants ask you concerning Me, indeed I am near. I answer the call of the caller when he calls upon Me.” [al-Baqarah 2:186]

We love and honour the Prophets and the righteous, and we recognise their virtue and rank. But preserving the purity of Tawḥīd means that our hearts ultimately depend upon Allah, and that our duʿā’, desperation, and pleas for what only Allah can provide are directed to Him alone.

Train your tongue in moments of difficulty to say: “O Allah, help me. O Allah, relieve my distress. O Ever-Living, O Sustainer of all, by Your mercy I seek relief.”

Tawḥīd should not merely be a subject of argument and debate. It is the orientation of the heart: Allah alone
